Drug Rehab Support Groups

The ongoing, never-ending and ever-growing battle against drug addiction wages on. As the war continues, the fight gets bigger with more warriors joining hands on either side of the rope. Drugs are given a big boost with easy accessibility, sophistication of availability and other factors. Fighting drug addiction has already been given a big boost with many support groups joining hands with the Drug Rehab Centers forming a potent force against drug addiction. Drug Rehab Support groups are essentially the flag-bearers of the fight against drug addiction with the mantles of counseling and educating the drug addicts being its key area of responsibilities.

When the concept of support groups initially was charted out, no one could predict as to how popular they would get. We now have different support groups and each of them is dedicated to fight drug addiction for a particular drug. Let us look at some of the support groups and what they do

Drug Rehab Support Groups

· Alcoholics Anonymous - Men and women come together to advocate a 12 step program which is sure to get rid of one's addiction to alcoholism. If you are addicted to the drinking habit, you could join Alcoholics Anonymous too and that for no charge at all. All you need to have is the will power and determination in you that you should stop drinking.

· Narcotics Anonymous - A collaborative effort of people who had been addicted to narcotics and fought their way out of it. Much similar to Alcoholics Anonymous, these set of people share their views with other addicts, try and help them out with their experiences. Should anyone be addicted to narcotics and is struggling for help, he or she is recommended to join this support group.

· Cocaine Anonymous - In terms of popularity, Cocaine is second behind marijuana in terms of availability and consumption. Anyone who joins this group is sure to get invaluable advice from existing members of Cocaine Anonymous on how to get rid of cocaine addiction effects. The men and women belonging to this group would also help addicts overcome their withdrawal symptoms by suggesting them certain tips to cope with them.

Many other support groups like Naranon, Alanon etc also exist which join hands together to ensure that more and more people are educated about drug addiction and its effects. Their role as a counselor has been recognized by many people as a vital cog in the wheel in the fight against drug addiction.

Thus, if you know of a person who does not how he needs to cope with the disastrous effects of drug addiction, you could advise him to join any one of the groups depending on the drug he is addicted to. And trust me, he will not go away disappointed.
